S-390
Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior Calculations
Service Description
Our S-390 is far superior to most others. We do the S-390 in a 36 Hour course, 8 hr. days Monday-Thursday and final exam on Friday AM. This schedule allows the instructor to prep the student more and allows student study time on Thursday evening. Students on this schedule have much better comprehension of the material and the schedule greatly increased final exam scores. Students will learn to predict wind speed and direction, atmospheric stability, fuel moistures, flame length, fireline intensity, rate of spread, spotting distance and fire size. Using phot graphs, maps and weather forecasts students will select the correct fuel model, calculate the slope, fuel moisture and predict the assigned fires ROS, FL, size and spotting PI and distance. We make it practical by apply the lessons to predict the outcome of actual fires based on recent fire disasters.
